
Mike is a Certified Private Wealth Advisor® with 30 years of experience in the field. He also holds licenses as a registered representative and investment advisor representative. In addition, Mike is a life, health, and long-term care agent.
Mike grew up in Bowling Green, KY. Earning both academic and athletic scholarships, he graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a minor in Economics.
After a successful stint as an Executive with the Boy Scouts of America (Jan 1987 to Aug 1991), Mike began his investment career at JC Bradford in 1991. In 1994 he moved to First American Bank’s investment division (later became Amsouth Bank). At the bank, he worked with trust officers, Certified Financial Planner® professionals, loan officers, and insurance executives. He considers his time at the bank extremely helpful in his quest to serve the full needs of his clients. In the fall of 2000, Amsouth Bank sold their Kentucky branches and Mike decided to start Newton Financial Group. In his career, he has helped clients with investments ranging from mutual funds to more sophisticated Reg D offerings. He has counseled and implemented strategies using insurance and he has helped solve many other complex concerns of his clients.
Mike has been married to his wife Julie since 1988. A speech-language pathologist, Julie serves as a part time Clinical Supervisor at the WKU Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. They have two sons. Michael, who is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and Nick, a CPA who works at the corporate office of Fifth Third Bank in Cincinnati.

Mike really enjoys helping others and has served in numerous charitable and community roles.

In 2022, Mike chaired the Scoring Committee of the United States Golf Association’s Girls Championship at The Club at Olde Stone. Girls from over 40 countries participated in the televised event.

Mike has chaired a Christmas Parade, organized and chaired local junior golf tournaments, served as a Junior Bible Quiz Coach, chaired a development campaign for Orchestra Kentucky, served on the board of the Warren County Community Foundation and the board of the local Red Cross.

While on the Board of Directors of Bowling Green Christian Academy for ten years, Mike served as President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Athletic Director, Basketball Coach, and Robotics Coach.

Mike is a past member of Living Hope Baptist Church’s Board of Trustees (past chairman). He is former member of the Estate Planning Advisory Council for Campbellsville University, the Greenwood High School Career and Technical Advisory Committee, and the Western Kentucky University’s “W” Club (past chairman). The “W” Club is only open to former athletic letter winners and is responsible for the WKU Athletic Hall of Fame selections and recognitions as well as current athletic letter recognitions.

Mike was the Head Coach of the Greenwood High School Boy’s Golf Team from 2010 to 2018. During those years his teams had some of the most successful seasons in school history. In 2022, two teams coached by Mike were inducted into the Greenwood Athletics Hall of Fame. They are currently the only golf teams at Greenwood’s history ever inducted into the Hall of Fame.
